Parks Canada video wins an award!
Sound Venture is thrilled to announce its recently completed Parks Canada video entitled “Completing the Circle” for the L’anse aux Meadows National Historic Site just won the 2013 Interpretation Canada's Gold award for non-personal media.
Interpretation Canada (IC) is a professional association of heritage interpreters who ultimate goal is to enhance the development of theory and practice in the field of heritage interpretation. Annual winners are recognized for excellence in heritage interpretation.

The film was designed as an on-site interpretive video and was conceived to appeal to a broad audience and provide an accessible overview of the LAM story. It put the site in context and revealed its broader significance. As for indicators of success, well, a good one for a film project is always audience response. In their own words, Parks Canada has reported the following:
There’s some strong indication that LAM (the video) has nailed it. TripAdvisor reviews give some indication of visitors’ reactions to the film (and visitor experience in general). As of October, 2013, L’Anse aux Meadows is ranked as the #1 attraction in L’Anse aux Meadows. (Full disclosure: there are 2 attractions.) But of the 107 reviews, 80 are excellent, 20 are very good, and many make reference to the new film with comments ranging from “…interpretive centre and video were kid friendly…”, to “super 15 min video…”, and “There is an explanatory movie as you come in that merits a 12 stars out of a possible 10!”.
